UAE residence visa stamps to be replaced by Emirates ID.

Dubai : United Arab Emirates have decided to stop issuing residence visa stamps in the passports of expatriates, replacing it with the usage of Emirates ID, the official identification document for the public.

This measure is set to take effect in the IDs issued from 11th of April, 2022.

Al Khaleej, the local daily reported that there will be no residence visa stamping in the passports of expatriates from 11th of this month. They had also quoted the the circular from Federal Authority. As per the same, in all occasions where the residence visa must be produced, Emirates ID can do the job.

The visa particulars of travellers from different places to UAE, will be made available by the inspection of passport and Emirates ID itself. Earlier, such travellers used to get a visa stamp, valid for 2 - 10 years in their passports, after all the formal proceedings. An Emirates ID was also provided along with the same. As a part of these changes, the Emirates ID was also modified some time ago, including more credentials of the holder.
